SF Urban Riders is working to bring a bicycle skills park to San Francisco. A location has been identified in McLaren Park and discussions are underway to make this dream a reality.

Overview:
Currently, there is not one single designated bicycle skills area in San Francisco. Through community outreach, SF Urban Riders has identified a need for these facilities and a potential location in McLaren Park where a bicycle park can be created to benefit all users, regardless of age or ability.
A unique, entertaining and sustainable facility such as a bike park would provide valuable recreation opportunities to the surrounding community, especially to families, neighborhood youth and students attending the elementary and high schools in the area.
The location we have identified is a decaying asphalt wasteland, and has been used for dumping trash and unwanted furniture, etc. The SF Urban Riders plan would remove the asphalt, mitigate the trash dumping and result in not only a recreational facility for the community, but create additional park land and picnic facilities.
McLaren Bike Park location as it exists currently:
SF Urban Riders is working with Hilride Progression Development Group to ensure that this park will be professionally designed and constructed, and ultimately become a unique draw to visitors from the Bay Area and beyond.
Its design will contain elements appealing to families with children just getting comfortable on two wheels, young adults seeking the thrills of a jump park or wanting to improve their technical skills and anyone that wants to experience the joy of riding a bicycle in an off road environment. It will feature beginner to advanced level bike features such as flowing trails, berms, progressive table top jumps, dirt jumpswooden ladders, wall rides, a pump track, and much more.
This is an awesome idea. I am semi-geezer 44 that is getting back into bmx racing. I go to Napa BMX track, the closest to me. It makes so much sense to have something like this in SF.
I pray it happens.
